The Alpine Meadow on Mt. Washington

Among the many alpine plants we observed on Mt. Washington on June 13, the following were in bloom:

Houstonia caerulea

                            Houstonia caerulea L. var. faxonorum,
 commonly called Alpine Bluets
                                        The large leaf among the Bluets is Geum peckii (mountain avens).

                                               

                                          Loiseleuria procumbens                   Loiseleuria procumbens

                                                     Loiseleuria procumbens, alpine azalea


Rhododendron lapponicum

Rhododendron lapponicum, Lapland rosebay
